My role

My role is to provide governance and advice relating to IT systems and client data security. That means I assess all our financial planning IT systems and tools to make sure they are fit for purpose and all data is absolutely secure.

I also take responsibility for risk management and disaster planning in the business.

Background

I am a specialist in cyber security, advanced networking and technical service integration. I have over 20 years’ experience in the IT, Internet and Information Security industries.

What’s important to me

Technology has been part of my life since I was a child. I still remember learning to program my BBC Model B computer when I was 10-years-old and the excitement as the technology advanced so quickly.

Now the environment is so much more complex, but no less exciting to me. I enjoy keeping up to date with developments and trying out new devices. In particular, you will often find me watching TED talks about technology, big data and security, or leafing through the latest IT journals.

I have been long distance running for the last couple of years and I enjoy getting out at least once a week for a challenging run. I also enter half marathons and fun runs whenever I can.

My family are at the centre of my life and, having two young children, weekends and holidays usually revolve around them and their antics.

Qualifications

I have a BSc Joint Honours in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence & Psychology. I am also a RSA Certified Security Professional and Member of the British Computer Society.
